Dottoli gets probation
Posted by adamcs at 19:00. Category: General
Steve Dottoli has been sentenced to two years' probation and will have to serve six months on home confinement and pay a $2,500 fine.
Dottoli, who worked at a compact-disc processing plant in Pitman, was stupid enough to steal a copy of GTA: San Andreas (prior to it's release) and email images of the manual and packaging to Neil, who was then stupid enough to post them on a GTA fansite he was working with at the time.

"GTA4" "Sex Scenes" Follow-Up
Posted by illspirit at 03:31. Category: General
Resident modding and programming super-genius Steve M got a hold of the writer at The Inquirer who started the below, would-be controversy. When asked to point out sources to back up the story, the response was as follows:
For a corroborating source (or two) see
http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/gta/new-gta-more-violent-duh-126647.php
Also, for the record, I'm a GTA fan...
Cheers,
Aaron |
So, judging by the complete lack of any factual corroborating, one can only assume The Inquirer saw the pic from Hot Coffee or the cynical remark at the bottom, and jumped the gun when drawing a conclusion before press time. 'Tis an honest (if not utterly silly) mistake, but, hey, it's the intarweb, what else is new? ;)
Thanks to Steve for getting to the bottom of this. And thanks to Aaron from The Inquirer for sorta clearning this up. It's almost too bad really, I was kind of hoping for some nice fake screens to laugh at...

"GTA4 to feature sex scenes" = bullshit
Posted by adamcs at 21:39. Category: General
"A number of "leaked" screenshots for the next GTA game show what appear to be sex scenes in the game."
|
" The controversy surrounding the sex scenes in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas rages on, but Rockstar Games is taking a new tack. Instead of the scenes having to be unlocked by a third-party modification, apparently screenshots for the next GTA game, for the PlayStation 3, show a number of sex scenes."
|
"A number of "leaked" screenshots for the next GTA game show what appear to be sex scenes in the game."
|
It's all lies, ladies and gentlemen. We asked Rockstar about the situation and here is their response:
"The article is inaccurate. I'm not sure where they got that information from, but it is patently false."
Rockstar Games |
And as for this:
"The internet is rife with gossip about what is almost certain to be one of the biggest selling games of all time, after a French magazine claimed to have images from the top secret development."
|
This, apparently, is the image they claimed to be GTA4:
This image has been on intraweb fansites for at least a few months now, and it's quite obviously fake...
...and quite fucking obviously lacking sex scenes.

Far and Inbetween - A quick request.
Posted by Andy at 16:58. Category: General
Some months ago (yes, it's been months) I posted an email that was sent to Patrick by a certain indy game developer named Joe Laurino. Considering the amount of time that has passed between then and now, I'd have thought that the amount of hatemail he's been getting would have died down - however, that seems to not be the case. For example:
bitch you didn't know shit of what you were talkin bout on gtasanandreas.com bitch you dont know shit bout nuthin shut yo fuckin ass up and shove your shitty ass yahoo web site and your fuckin corperate emails that are sent from your aol email address. you don't know shit fuckin the "coffee" scene isnt bad enough to be banned from a whole country but they did it because of bitch ass niggaz like you. fuck u homeboy and your dumbass fuckin thoughts and opinions because they are shit and ill fuckin spit at you if i see you bitch. its becuz ur a fuckin racist now if it would have been a white man you wouldnt have said shit about it.
hate or die
O.G. LOU-LOC
and no bitch i didnt get that from o.g. loc off gta my shit original son.

Touching.
Anywho, Joe Laurino has gotten the message - he apologized for his actions back in the middle of August, and has once again asked me to pass on his request that the emails stop pounding in.
To everyone who has shown their support for Patrick and his innocence in the whole Hot Coffee deal, I offer my deepest gratitude. You guys really proved that when a treasured member of the GTA community gets hit, the entire community stands strong to defend them. Wewt-Wewt and all that good stuff.
Now, I'm mainly neutral in this matter (albeit a bit biased), so I'm not ordering/demanding that anyone do anything. It's your choice. I'm just passing on the request from an individual who has been feeling the burn for the past two months.

New GTA Stuff in 2k6
Posted by illspirit at 21:46. Category: General
Take2's always-interesting 3rd quarter meeting was today, which could only mean one thing: Vauge info about an upcoming GTA title. Since they give the bare minimum ammount of details needed to keep their stockholders happy, there's really not much to report. So, I'll just cut to the chase and paste in bits from the press release which pertain to R* and let you draw your own conclusions...
In the third quarter, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for Xbox and PC and Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition for the PSP system. Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition was the best selling PSP title in the United States in July, according to NPD Funworld® estimates. Also in the third quarter, Rockstar launched the PlayStation 2 Greatest Hits version of Red Dead Revolver, bringing Take-Two's catalog of Greatest Hits products for PlayStation 2 to eleven titles.
Rockstar released Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition for the PSP in Europe last week in conjunction with the European launch of the PSP system. Later in the fourth quarter Rockstar is introducing an all new Grand Theft Auto title: Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, for the PSP in North America and Europe. Returning to Liberty City, the setting of Grand Theft Auto 3, the title has an entirely original storyline with all new missions and the freedom, production value and gameplay of all Grand Theft Auto titles.
Also planned for fourth quarter release is The Warriors™ for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, a new Rockstar title based on the Paramount Pictures feature film. Developed by Rockstar Toronto, The Warriors expands the cinematic journey of the film, reinventing the street brawler to create an intense, stylized and unparalleled gameplay experience.
Rockstar's fiscal 2006 pipeline includes the release of Bully on PlayStation 2 and Xbox in the second quarter and a sequel of a Rockstar brand in the third quarter. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for PlayStation 2 is expected to be released in Japan in the first quarter. A title based on a new brand for the Xbox 360™ is planned for the second quarter. Additional fiscal 2006 products include two new titles for the PSP system, as well as extensions of the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
