Game Developers Choice Awards
Posted by illspirit at 18:42. Category: General
This will surely come as no surprise, but San Andreas has been nominated for best game of the year in the 5th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards, just as the last two games in the series were. Competition for best game might be kind of tough this year as it's up against Half-Life2 and the quirky Katamari Damacy (among others). On top of that, SanAn is also in the nominated for the Audio, Game Design, and Writing categories. Winners will be announced at the International Game Developers Association conference in San Fierro, erm, San Francisco on March 9th. Check back here, or the IGDA site then to see who won.

Walkthrough for concerned parents
Posted by adamcs at 11:53. Category: General
I present to you, the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Walkthrough for concerned parents.
Mini-Game: "Cleaning your room"
What a "messy motherf*cker" Carl is! His room is a mess! Help Carl keep his room looking respectable by cleaning it up. Regrettably, his room only has two things in it that can actually be picked up -- the can of spray paint, and the camera. It will take your child approximately four seconds to complete this mini-game, so once he or she is done, add to the fun by acting out a scene found in every single children's TV shows of the 1980s. Urge him or her to put said items in the closet, and complete the following dialogue:
Parent: Well, this certainly looks a great deal cleaner than it did before!
Child: I did a great job!
Parent: Where on Earth did you find room for everything? [walks over to closet door]
Child: NO MOM DON'T OPEN THE--
Parent: [opens door, avalanche of teddy bears and miscellaneous sports equipment spills out and buries both parties in a comical fashion]
Child: ....cloooooossssseettt. |
A good laugh - thanks to xox_vanzant_xox for the heads up.

GTA PSP expectations
Posted by adamcs at 17:06. Category: General
PSM2 (UK) have published a two-page feature on GTA PSP in their latest issue, with their expectations on how the project will be tackled:
Gameplay
Rockstar president Sam Houser was quoted saying "Sony's extremely impressive technology has allowed Rockstar Leeds to do more on a handheld machine than we could have ever imagined", virtually guaranteeing that the game will be 3D rather than top-down. For what it's worth, we're prediciting a prequel to San Andreas based on CJ's life in Liberty City, probably featuring the likes of Donald Love and other popular GTA3 characters.
Battery Life
The reason for GTA's lack of loading screens is that it constantly streams off the disc - something that could be a problem, since a constantly whirring disc would drain the PSP's battery. We're expecting to see Vice City style postcards breaking the game into chunks.
Music
One of the biggest draws to any GTA game is gunning down the enemy to a medley of tuneage - but again playing it direct from the CD could seriously sap the PSP's battery life. One suggestion is that the music could come on a memory stick as part of the package.
Controls
The PSP's a few buttons lighter than the DualShock 2, so Rockstar will have to come up with a way of corporating all GTA's controls. With the lack of a right analogue, we're expecting several fixed viewpoint options and a much more forgiving lock-on system. |
Stay tuned for more info, and discuss this release at our forum.

Updates
Posted by adamcs at 19:41. Category: General
Firstly, we have added three new guides to the gameplay category. The gang guide covers everything you need to know about gangs—from winning new territory to recruiting a small group of homies. Also check out the clothing and eating guides, which offer various statistics and maps to help you keep-in-shape and lookin' good.
In addition to this, we have [finally] updated our mission walkthrough, although, we haven't added new missions. Instead, we have re-written most of what was there, and it now contains a much greater level of detail aswell as 4 screenshots for each mission, to give you a better idea of whats going on. The Introduction and Los Santos sections are now complete. Keep checking for updates.
Already beaten San Andreas? Register free at our forum and discuss the next release in our newly created GTA4 section. You can also share your opinions on the Xbox and PC versions of San Andreas, which are set for release in June.
Speaking of which, you can now pre-order a copy from the Rockstar Warehouse or one of the retailers listed at the 'Buy Now' section on the official website. Stay tuned for more info as the Xbox and PC releases draw closer.
